We Celebrate and Give Thanks for the Past

  1. Treasurer Report
    • See attached report
    • Additional Addendum:
      • Linda determined that we do not qualify for Payroll Protection. Reason: The current round of Payroll Protection requires a quarter with at least a 25% loss. We had a good year and our total offering income for 2020 was almost 94% of 2019.Quarterly figures for offering income year over year were: 86%, 98%, 109%, 88%. If monies for building use are added, the numbers change almost not at all as sums both before and after are small compared to offering income. And those numbers do not include all the other income, that includes both the funds people give for internal purposes and the funds we gave away as benevolence.
    • Motion/Second/Approved: To authorize Kristen Crawford to have access and signatory favor to the mission endowment fund as well as other church funds.
  2. Secretary Report
    • See attached report
    • Discussed Dave Mercer’s request to provide a reopening date to expedite the Alarm system company to follow through with the necessary work that needs to be completed before reopening.
      • Plan: To determine a time later in the meeting following our discussion on Covid statistics and reopening.
  3. Pastor’s Report
    • See attached report.
    • 16 Lenten packets have been distributed to people in states as far as FL, MN, etc. as a result of Tim’s posting on facebook.
  4. Ministry Team Reports
    • Serve the Lord - Paul
      • See attached report
      • Council supported the decision for gifts to Bonnie which includes a prayer shawl and gift card to Wentworth Greenhouses.
    • Grow in Faith- Julie
      • See attached report
    • Come Together - Linda
      • No report

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

  1. Request to Council for Church to support the need of an individual
    • Seacoast Interfaith Sanctuary Coalition is supported by local churches and in turn provides sanctuary to immigrants in the seacoast. A woman, by the name of Claudine ___receives support from this Interfaith Coalition. Claudine has attended our zoom church service for the last couple of weeks. Dot Kasik is requesting the sum total of $600 in order to help support Claudine in purchasing groceries for 3 months (April-June). The council supported this action with the monies coming from voluntary donations from church members. This opportunity for members will be formally made once Tim has a conversation with Dot and/or Claudine to determine the request.
  2. Conversation about how we understand a gift vs a bonus
    • Bonus
      • money is taken out of the church funds
      • Taxable
      • Often given for a stated reason (e.g. hard work)
    • Gift
      • Money collected from voluntary donations
  3. Returning to in-person services data analysis and discussion.
What are the parameters and data for in-person services to take place?
    • Pastor Tim
    • Guiding questions: How do our actions impact the greater community? Where do we get our numbers from?
    • Discussion: examined charts provided by Covid Act Now, discussed factors of vaccinated people, new variants, CDC guidelines, ELCA guidelines. Pastor Tim is willing to provide services. Can we define a marker for when reopening can occur?
    • Decision: Our present marker is that while Rockingham County is in the red zone, and remains in the red zone, we will not have in person church services. This will be re-visited during our next council meeting.

  1. Conversation about the future of Holy Trinity with Pastor Tim
    • Pastor Tim presented slides summarizing the article titled “The Nuclear Family was a Mistake” (which Council members read) as well as other statistics relating to trends in the Church. Leading slide: Called to the Church vs. Called to be the church. Pastor invited us to take the time to ponder and examine how our present operating system that was very effective 50 years ago may no longer serve us and others in today's culture and world we live in. He cautions us to take the time to determine the hardware program we will use before we implement and “buy into” different software programs (such as let’s try this program to see if this reaches out to others, etc.). Our first step is to determine who we are and what we are about.
    • Discussion ensued.
    • Plan to discuss the first chapter of a book titled, How To Lead When You Don’t Know Where You’re Going: Leading in a Liminal Season by Susan Beaumont. (Amazon $28.00)

We Look to the Future

  • Agenda Items for next month
    • Continue discussion regarding Covid status and church reopening.
    • Begin process of reviewing bylaws. Pastor Tim will talk with Russ about beginning this process and the procedure to do so.
    • Revisit providing Dave Mercer a date for reopening to expedite his work with the Alarm company.
  • Upcoming calendar review (next two months)
    • Council Meetings: March 11, 2021, April 8, 2021
    • Ash Wednesday and Lent discussion (Feb. 17th)
    • Easter discussion (April 4th)

    • Streaming equipment: On December 18, Nic from New England Mobile Audio installed two cameras and live streaming equipment in our Sound System booth. Nic came in twice after the initial installation, to tweak settings and to install an ethernet cord into the computer for faster bandwidth while streaming. 3. Meeting minutes September 10, 2020 and October 5, 2020 – approved online

We Celebrate and Give Thanks for the Past

1. Secretary Report
  • Some electrical work related to the lightning strike this spring is scheduled for Oct 23.
  • Dave M. expects property spending will be over budget in the three cost centers where he has control (grounds, maintenance, equipment), primarily due to costs for crack sealing the parking lot. To keep spending within ~$600 of budget in these categories, planned spending for lawn mower maintenance will be deferred until spring. Depending upon cost for Oct through the end of the year for heating, utilities, and snow removal, the overall property spending could end up under budget. These projections do not reflect the cost for the dead tree removal or new electrical panel (total about $2300), which are previously approved additions.
    1. Treasurer Report
  • See attached report.
  • Motion/Second/Approved: To change the signator for the Mission Endowment Fund from Helen Goransson to Linda Edwards as Treasurer, and if possible Barry Philbrick as Assistant Treasurer.
  • Motion/Second/Approved: To begin to withdraw interest and dividends from the Mission Endowment Fund to support Social Ministry.
    1. Pastor’s Report

    1. Ministry Team Reports
      a. Serve the Lord – Paul
  • Caring Connections: Cheryl had a Zoom celebration for the life of her Mom this past week, and is taking this week off. She is almost done with the list of people who might want the Tidings mailed out to them.
  • Social Ministry: Jessica Feeley has been working to figure out how Thanksgiving baskets might work this year. b. Grow in Faith – Julie
  • Last night was the final “Pastor O goes to Concord” conversation. The whole series has been well-received.
  • Dot Kasik will be leading two Adult Forum presentations in the coming weeks, one on her work with immigration and the other on the book The Elephant Whisperer.
  • Faith has not received any feedback from the newsletter yet, but is tracking the analytics of which pieces of it people are engaging with, so will be able to report more back in future.
  • One student is up for Confirmation this fall. Pastor will film it in advance, and the video will be shown during the Reformation Sunday service on October 25th. c. Come Together – Rebecca
  • See below discussion of item #2.

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

1. Mission Endowment Fund
  • See Treasurer report above.
    1. Expected November 1st return to in-church service plans and safety guidelines
  • Discussion of safety guidelines.
  • Capacity of the Sanctuary is technically 250, so 50% would be 125. However, not all of that space is available for seating (altar, instruments, etc.). Given those considerations, and the knowledge that Pastor, Mark, and musicians need to be included in the numbers, Pastor has approximated 50 people as our maximum capacity for service attendees.
    1. Sanctuary video-audio upgrade – update
  • See attached update from Dick Topping.
  • Mark is working on upgrading our internet. Dick is reaching out to companies to ask if we can do a trial run, using the equipment we are looking to purchase to stream a service before deciding whether to buy.
  • Motion/Second/Approved: Conditional on approval from certain memorial fund donors, to give the AV Team approval to spend up to $10,000 to move forward with Phase 1 of the proposed plan.
    1. Reconciling in Christ Committee’s statement and vote recommendation for timeline/process
  • The stewardship packet and Tidings today detailed the reintroduction of this process, and gave the proposed timeline.
  • Discussion of proposed process for voting.
    1. How are things going after 7 months into COVID-19?
  • Tabled due to time.

We Look to the Future

1. Forward Leadership – visionary process initiative/community meeting - NE Synod
  • Thus far, there are three people who have agreed to go on retreats, and two others have agreed to be part of the “sounding board” team for when they return. We hope to have ~4 people on each team total.
    1. Council Recruiting Committee formation
  • 3 Council members are coming to the end of their first 2-year term, so will let Council President know this month if they would like to continue for another term or not. Other Council members will nominate congregation members to be asked to be on the recruiting committee, if needed.
    1. Set date of semi-annual meeting
  • January 24th, snow date January 31st.

  • The Bridge Group that met in the building pre-pandemic is relocating to Portsmouth, so will no longer be using our facilities once it is safe for them to gather again.

    1. Treasurer Report
  • See attached report.

    1. Pastor’s Report
  • See attached report.
  • Discussion of ways the rest of the congregation could support parents in facilitating Faith Formation with their children.
  • Projection and streaming upgrade: According to their research, the team thinks it will probably cost ~$10,000-$11,000 to install the streaming technology that would give the best experience to the viewer, as well as ongoing costs (for more bandwidth, etc.) probably totaling ~$2000/year. This is for phase 1, to add cameras and streaming capabilities. Phase 2 would deal with adding monitors and screens to the sanctuary. The total estimate if both phases of the project are approved would be around $16,000. Phase 2 will be considered at a future time. The team would like Council’s input on what a reasonable amount to spend might be before they get further quotes and move forward. Discussion ensued of how much would be reasonable to spend, and where that money might come from. Council will meet again soon, either over Zoom or email, to discuss further after more research is done.

    1. Ministry Team Reports
      a. Serve the Lord – Paul
  • Cheryl and Paul will put together a list of people who do not have internet access and might be interested in getting the Tidings mailed to them.
  • Social Ministry: All funds have been sent out.
  • Ron has reached out to Jessica to schedule a meeting to go over the transition of position. Pastor will also reach out to her to touch base. b. Grow in Faith – Julie

  • Faith will start work soon on planning for the national youth gathering in 2021. c. Come Together – Rebecca

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

1. Forward Leadership – visionary process initiative/community meeting - NE Synod
  • Meetings would start in January. At this time, they plan to still host meetings at Calumet, as well as some meetings that are able to be held over Zoom.
  • Motion/Second/Approved: To move forward with forming a Forward Leadership team to undergo this process.

    1. Discussion to take congregational vote using an alternative process
  • Agreement that we should have a protocol in place for voting during COVID-19.
  • The RIC committee will meet before next regular council meeting to put together a proposal of how they would like to proceed.
    1. How are things going after almost 6 months of COVID-19?
  • Discussion of whether and when to move an in-person service indoors, especially as the weather continues to cool and outdoor meetings become less feasible. Pastor will send out a survey asking for feedback from the congregation before a decision is made.

We Look to the Future

1. Mutual Ministry
  • Pastor and President will work together to form a mutual ministry team.
    1. Upcoming calendar review (next two months) a. Council meetings: Oct. 15, Nov. 10 or 12

1. Update of Seacoast Interfaith Sanctuary Coalition – Dot Kasik

● The SISC is an interfaith group of 25-30 people who are working to help resolve the legal statuses of immigrants in our communities. Dot will talk to Russ about doing an adult forum about the group and their work.

  1. Update on property work: storm effects, wiggle room, tree removal ● Property: ○ Dave Smith is hopeful that all damage due to the storm will be reimbursed by insurance. ○ Fire Alarm System: Architect has completed his work (~$2500, pending bill, from capital funds) creating drawings the Fire Protection engineer needs to develop construction documents for our new replacement system. ○ Fire protection engineer started work Tuesday. 50% paid up front (of the ~$6500, from capital funds) to develop the construction documents for the new system. ○ Fire Alarm System contractor, Hackworth Services, will give us a proposal for the new system after the engineer completes the construction documents. Based upon Hackworth's discussions with the fire department, we are assuming the new system will have to meet current fire code requirements. We are attempting to get the fire department to put this position in writing. Hackworth will not provide a cost estimate for the new system until he sees and reviews the engineers construction documents. The Hackworth estimate will hopefully be available in early September. ○ Main electrical distribution panel issues (in the basement work room): Dave Mercer would like to engage an electrician, Alltek Services of Barrington, NH to replace this panel and include power surge protection to minimize possibility of another instance of damage to electrical equipment. The cost estimate is ~$1200 (to be taken from capital funds). ■ Motion/Second/Approved: To approve the purchase of the suggested new electrical panel. ○ Property team is repairing rotten wood near the exit by the Wiggle Room. When complete, they will be pouring new concrete steps for the two emergency doors there and at the emergency exit near the choir area. Costs for this work will come from property budget. ○ Dave Mercer would like to hire a tree removal service to take down the dead elm tree by our entry drive (the one with the yellow safety tape around the trunk). He has one bid at $1000 and is having trouble getting additional bids. This tree is a safety problem and should be taken down before winter. ■ Motion/Second/Approved: To approve the $1000 bid to take down the elm tree. ○ Dave Mercer is waiting for a quote from a paver to clean out and seal cracks in our paving and should be done to slow normal degradation of the paving, with the hope of getting it done before winter, with funds from the property budget. ○ The refrigerator in the conference room was without power for several days and cannot be salvaged. It will be trashed, with no replacement planned.

    1. Forward Leadership – visionary process initiative/community meeting - NE Synod ● Forward Leadership is a yearlong discernment process, (6 meetings of the team), for churches to look at where they are as a congregation and where they want to go in the future. It was suggested that now, with the world in such flux, might be a good time to engage in the process. ● Applications are due at the end of September. Pastor will gather more information about exactly what it might look like this year and report back next month. Further discussion tabled pending that information.
    2. Discussion about taking congregational vote given Constitution statements and COVID-19 restrictions ● The wording of our constitution is such that we could hold electronic meetings, as long as they are live (not pre-recorded). This is not necessarily a process we would want to follow during normal times; however given the special circumstances, and under the guidance put out by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office Charitable Trusts Unit, it is possible. ● Another church which Pastor talked to did the following, at the recommendation of a lawyer recommended by the Synod: ○ Hold the conversation on Zoom. Small votes (approving minutes, etc.) were held over Zoom. Large votes were tabled following the discussion of them. Once everything had been discussed, people drove to the church, were handed a ballot, voted on all the tabled measures, drove home. Votes were tabulated, then everyone got back on Zoom to hear the results and adjourn the meeting. ● The above process allows for confidential voting, which voting through Zoom does not. Our constitution would also allow us to use a voting app that people could download, which would allow for confidential voting without driving to the church. ● Council will continue the discussion next month.
    3. Information/discussion about Church policies connected to COVID-19 restrictions ● Will revisit again next month.

We Look to the Future

1. Discussion about video-audio upgrade for services

● This will probably be a big enough amount of money to require a congregational vote before proceeding.

2. Upcoming calendar review (next two months)
    a. Council meetings: Sept. 10, possible special meeting Sept. 24, Oct. 13
    b. Zoom meeting or alternative option?

1. Treasurer Report
  • See attached report.
  • Camp Calumet: The question was raised whether we should donate the money allocated in the budget for Camp Calumet scholarships and retreats directly to Camp this year, given their lessened income due to the pandemic this year. No decision was reached.
    1. Secretary Report
  • Property:
  • Most issues the Fire Department identified last fall have been addressed; Dave Mercer and Property Team will continue to work on the rest.
  • Last week’s storm caused a power surge that damaged some of our electrical systems and knocked out internet and phone. Internet will hopefully be back this weekend, a few phone lines are back already. The damaged fire alarm system, which is part of the electrical system, will be a harder fix, since the parts needed for our current system are no longer manufactured. Replacing the systems might be covered under insurance, due to the nature of the damage.
  • Office: Mark has been in touch with regular building users, and provided an update on their status.
  • Fri & Sat AA groups: In the infancy stages of planning a return; are meeting over zoom for the time being.
  • Tuesday AA: Meeting over zoom, and has no immediate plans to return.
  • Sounds of Seacoast: No immediate plans to return. They would like to retain their Monday evening slot once it's safe to do so.
  • Monday Bridge group: Decided in April not to meet until at least November; their decision to return won't be re-evaluated until then.
  • The Ikebana Ikenobo Kittery Chapter (a flower arranging group that was supposed to have their first meeting here in April) would like to use the outdoor tent to hold their meetings, as they have less than 12 total members and can safely social distance. Their group is currently discussing whether or not that would be an acceptable option.
    1. Investment Group Implementation
  • See Treasurer Report.
    1. Pastor’s Report
  • See attached report.
    1. Ministry Team Reports
      a. Serve the Lord – Paul
  • Caring Connections: Cheryl’s recovery from surgery is going well. She has been active in doing phone and emails.
  • Social Ministry Fund Drive: The drive ended with a 51% increase in giving over the original 2020 budget.
  • Discussion of sharing it in a local paper and on social media, as well as during church.
  • Social ministry endowment distribution (continued discussion)
  • Motion/Second/Approved: To stop reinvesting the annual revenues and have those funds given to Social Ministry Team to distribute annually as a supplement and addition to their annually budgeted funds.
  • Discussion of whether to also give accrued principle down to its original level, or leave it as a larger principle which will mean a larger amount to give away later. Decision made to table it for the time being. b. Grow in Faith – Julie
  • Faith Formation met July 22. Russ Hillard is going to coordinate adult forums in the fall.
  • Virtual VBS with LutherCrest will be the first two weeks of August. c. Come Together – Rebecca
  • Outdoor worship seems to be going well thus far.

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

1. Information/discussion about Church policies connected to COVID-19 restrictions
  • Discussion. Pastor and Krissy will sit down and discuss further, with Russ Hillard.
    1. Pop-up Pantry update
  • A work in progress, but going well so far. We have had people utilizing it.
    1. How is Church doing after four months of COVID-19 restrictions?
  • Our attendance is actually slightly higher than some previous summers. The situation is not ideal but Holy Tritiny is OK.
  • In-person gatherings have seen a few folks who haven’t joined us in a while due to technology barriers.
  • We understand that nothing about this situation is ideal. We are going to err on the side of extreme caution to keep not just ourselves but others safe. Places that have reopened have seen numbers increase, and that is not who we want to be.

We Look to the Future

1. Discussion about video-audio upgrade for services
  • Small team of people is working on how to do projection/online presence for whenever we return to the building, so people who do not yet feel comfortable in person can continue to participate. The system would also allow for better recording in the sanctuary.
    1. Upcoming calendar review (next two months) a. Council meetings: August 13 , September 10, (Thursdays, due to outdoor worship) b. Zoom meeting or alternative option?
  • Keep on Zoom at least for August. Closing Prayer

  1. Reconciling in Christ – next step even with us still being in the effects of COVID-19 crisis
    • Agreement that we should not hold a vote currently, while technology might be a barrier to some people.
    • Krissy will research bylaws to see how we as a church can vote on things in general moving forward, and what the process would be to change them if needed, to be inclusive both to those uncomfortable with technology and those who are not comfortable meeting in person in the foreseeable future. Pastor will reach out to other pastors to see how they are handling this issue.
  1. Treasurer Report
    • See attached report.
    • A discussion about sending out Mission Endowment Fund money was held. Due to time constraints on this meeting, the final decision to send out the funds was pushed to next month.

  1. Investment Group Implementation
    • Motion/Second/Approved: To begin laddering 3 CDs of $15,000 each with some of the Funds currently in our checking account.
  1. Pastor’s Report

  1. Ministry Team Reports

    • a. Serve the Lord – Paul: *Social Ministry team is working on allocating the funds from the Social Ministry Fund drive. Caring Connections: Shepherds continuing to make phone calls. Jessica Feeley has accepted the Chair of Social Ministry position.

    • b. Grow in Faith – Julie: Sunday school lessons continue to be available. Pastor is planning to do a read-aloud of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in the near future, over Zoom or similar platform. Pastor working with other churches to potentially make some sort of virtual VBS.

    • c. Come Together – Rebecca: Discussion of the guidelines compiled for holding outdoor worship services this summer during COVID-19. Proposal that this not replace our primary Sunday worship gathering, given that we still cannot meet with the whole congregation at once due to number of people gathered. Outdoor gatherings will be used at other times through the week to supplement Sunday worship. Judy and Rebecca will work with Pastor to work out details. Pastor will work on proposal for upgrading technologies, to make sure that when we do return to some form of indoor worship we have the capability to still include people virtually.

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

  1. Discussion about Pastor’s recent sermons and response to nationwide protests
    • A lengthy discussion took place that focused on Pastor’s recent sermons and letter to the congregation regarding topics related to race and particular events taking place in the US. Pastor shared that he received comments from church members “you didn’t go far enough” to “you couldn’t be farther away from what I think." Church members have contacted one Council member with their concerns and questions, several specifying that they perceived the letter as partisan in nature. Pastor stressed that his intent with the letter was not to be partisan but to address what he perceived as a co-opting of Christianity for partisan ends by a secular leader. He reiterated that members should feel free to contact him with their thoughts, questions, and concerns.

June 7, 2020 - State of the Church Address

State of the Church Address – Revised. Cristina’s script for June 14th service... in place of semi-annual mtg

Good Morning and hello, I’m Cristina Dolcino your church council president. I would like to share with you some financial highlights, which are especially significant during this time of worshipping online.

a. Linda Edwards, our treasurer, has reported that we were $4,000 ahead of our overall budget at the end of May. This is without receiving a Payroll Protection Plan loan through the stimulus bill. THANK YOU for your generosity. We also want to thank Barry Philbrick, Linda Edwards, and Dan Scammon, all of whom provide different services related to our financials.

b. We are grateful also that more members have shifted to online giving through the church’s Elexio site. This has been helpful for our counters during the pandemic.

c. In May, the “Serve the Load” committee initiated a campaign to raise additional funds to make up the difference between our 2019 and 2020 budget for social ministry. One role of the Social Ministry committee is to allocate funds to local and international organizations. During this campaign we achieved to date $13,464. This amazing amount of money is now being distributed to the Synod and Seacoast organizations. We are providing important support given the increased demands of these groups and the decrease of donations to non-profit because of COVID-19. Some of the local organizations we support include; Operation Blessing, Salvation Army, Crossroads, and Dover Friendly Kitchen. We also want to thank Ron Indorf for his years of service as chairperson and as a member of the Social Ministry Committee.

d. Mission Investment Endowment –

  1. This finishes our financials update and now I would like to tell you about our ministries. Remarkably, we have continued most of our vital ministries while not being allowed to be in the building - (Cristina) a. Pastor and Faith Bygd, our Faith Education director, are developing an online VBS program for families to enjoy together this summer. We hope many children will participate. b. The number of members attending Wednesday Bible Study has increased along with Wednesday evening’s BYOB^2 (Bring Your Own Bible and Beverage) discussion. c. In addition, Sunday School lessons and videos continue to be available on our website each week. d. The chairperson of Serve the Lord, Cheryl Brigham, runs the Shepherds and Flock ministry. This important ministry makes phone calls regularly to members as a check-in, to see if they may need something, and to chat. Contact Cheryl if you would like to get involved. e. If you’ve been able to attend Sunday service online, you have probably noticed new and more people than ever who are involved in assisting our worship. We are appreciative to all the people who have welcomed us to church, led us in prayers, and read the readings or gospel. We have also enjoyed the stories people have shared about their baptism, communion, what faith means to them, and what is special about Holy Trinity. f. Our Virtual choir has been a joy to watch blossom this spring as new voices participate from far and wide to lead us singing different songs together. g. Last Sunday we honored 10 high school and college graduates and awarded 3 scholarships for the Faith and Service Award. Congratulations to each one of them!
Thank you to Helen Goransson for her continued effort in organizing this special recognition.
    h. Confirmation classes has suffered the most during the pandemic. Please accept our apologies and as restrictions change, classes will begin again.

Thank you for being pare of Holy Trinity as we grow and come together in new ways.
Pastor Tim will now continue with the State of the Church address.

  1. What the future holds – (Tim) a. We don’t know when we will resume worship indoors b. We are putting together plans for outdoor gatherings under the tent c. We are getting bids to improve the technology in the sanctuary. We know even when we return inside, we have many members who will not be able to join us. We want to add screens and video cameras to reduce bulletins and have a high-quality streaming option for people (more than an iPad on Facebook live). d. It will be good. The church is not dependent on a building, but on the gathered community. We will continue to gather

We celebrate and Give Thanks for the Past

  1. Reconciling in Christ – on hold due to COVID-19
  2. Treasurer Report • See attached reports.
  3. Secretary Report • Dave has been doing necessary upkeep (lawn mowing, etc.). He has been in touch with Pastor about what needs to be done. • The May1st Lifeline Screening building rental event was cancelled. We never deposited their cheque, so no actions needed.
  4. Pastor’s Report • See attached report.
  5. Ministry Team Reports • Serve the Lord – Paul ▪ Ron Indorf is stepping down from his position as Chair of Social Ministry. Discussion of possible replacements; Pastor will follow up with them. ▪ Pop-up Pantry idea – set up tables on the outer church lawn (facing Walmart); solicit donations from the congregation, who can drop items off on tables, where they are free to be taken by anyone who needs them. Undecided how often we should do this, Pastor will work on it. • Grow in Faith – Julie ▪ In-person VBS canceled this summer. Pastor is working with Faith on alternatives. • Come Together – Rebecca ▪ No report.

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

  1. Discussion about COVID-19 and initial planning of factors before returning to services in Church • We are not setting a date to try anything in-person, but are monitoring CDC and state guidelines, as well as ELCA and messages from Bishop Hazelwood, and are discussing ideas for the future. • Many ideas discussed of how to have some form of small in-person church at some point, though no decisions reached. • Outdoors? small group (multiple services on different days of the week?), no singing, communion (everyone brings their own?) • We should ensure that those who are not comfortable being out and about at all are not forgotten. • Virtual Tables of 8 suggested as possible source of connection within a smaller group. • In the meantime, it might be good to invest in new technologies to help us better broadcast services. • Normally, people are limited by geographic location as to which church they attend. Right now, we can pool resources with other churches that may not be nearby, to better serve both congregations.

  2. Discussion about Semi-annual meeting, date set for June 14th directly after church • Because there is noting that will need to be voted on during this meeting, the format can be a short Review of the Finances presentation and a “State of the Church” address from Pastor and Cristina.
