Meeting minutes April 14, 2020 – approved online

We celebrate and Give Thanks for the Past

  1. Reconciling in Christ – on hold due to COVID-19
  2. Treasurer Report • See attached reports.
  3. Secretary Report • Dave has been doing necessary upkeep (lawn mowing, etc.). He has been in touch with Pastor about what needs to be done. • The May1st Lifeline Screening building rental event was cancelled. We never deposited their cheque, so no actions needed.
  4. Pastor’s Report • See attached report.
  5. Ministry Team Reports • Serve the Lord – Paul ▪ Ron Indorf is stepping down from his position as Chair of Social Ministry. Discussion of possible replacements; Pastor will follow up with them. ▪ Pop-up Pantry idea – set up tables on the outer church lawn (facing Walmart); solicit donations from the congregation, who can drop items off on tables, where they are free to be taken by anyone who needs them. Undecided how often we should do this, Pastor will work on it. • Grow in Faith – Julie ▪ In-person VBS canceled this summer. Pastor is working with Faith on alternatives. • Come Together – Rebecca ▪ No report.

We Seek God’s Direction for our Church

  1. Discussion about COVID-19 and initial planning of factors before returning to services in Church • We are not setting a date to try anything in-person, but are monitoring CDC and state guidelines, as well as ELCA and messages from Bishop Hazelwood, and are discussing ideas for the future. • Many ideas discussed of how to have some form of small in-person church at some point, though no decisions reached. • Outdoors? small group (multiple services on different days of the week?), no singing, communion (everyone brings their own?) • We should ensure that those who are not comfortable being out and about at all are not forgotten. • Virtual Tables of 8 suggested as possible source of connection within a smaller group. • In the meantime, it might be good to invest in new technologies to help us better broadcast services. • Normally, people are limited by geographic location as to which church they attend. Right now, we can pool resources with other churches that may not be nearby, to better serve both congregations.

  2. Discussion about Semi-annual meeting, date set for June 14th directly after church • Because there is noting that will need to be voted on during this meeting, the format can be a short Review of the Finances presentation and a “State of the Church” address from Pastor and Cristina.

We Look to the Future

  1. Upcoming calendar review (next two months)
    • Council meetings: June 9, July 14, August 11
