Dover Friendly Kitchen Update

Dover Friendly Kitchen Update

I will be visiting DFK on January 21 as observers in order to seamlessly continue our church’s participation in this vital ministry.

I will be setting up a text chain with the names and numbers of previous DFK volunteers. Hopefully, by using this direct contact method, it will be easier to schedule volunteers for the meals. I also have the names of cookie bakers, but not all their phone numbers yet.

And speaking of volunteers, it would be wonderful to expand this group. I realize that not everyone is able to arrive at 3:35 to assist in setup due to work, school or family obligations. The actual meal is served from 5-6:00pm, and then we must clean the kitchen and deliver any leftover food to CrossRoads House. We strive to be finished by 6:30, but sometimes it is later because not all the volunteers can stay. Therefore, I am proposing that we establish two “shifts” for volunteers: one to setup and begin serving the meals, and a second to finish serving and assist in the cleanup. This would be a fluid arrangement, not one with specific times.
